Unknown Maker’s Mark
An AMS members asks, ‘I recently acquired this brass fireplace Tidy Betty from what looks to be the late 1800s. It is a very weighty object and is well made. I was wondering whether there may be any other members who might be able to identify the markings on the back of this item. I have included photos and would appreciate any input from other members who at be experts in this area. The marking is very distinct, two pyramids or triangles, one upright, one inverted and on top of the upright one. They intersect at their points. There appears to be some lettering in the upper inverted pyramid though I cannot make this out.’
