On Saturday the 11th March 1769, Robert Wells posted the following advertisement in the Oxford Journal:

Robert Wells clearly produced a wide range of metalware at the Bell Foundry at Aldbourne, Wilts, but he is perhaps best known for his church bells, “horse bells” and “musical sheep bells”.
