Explanation:
This kitchen spice box is divided into two compartments, which are tinned on the inside. The compartment lids are engraved with images of, respectively, a lidded saucepan and a kettle. The box’s oval shape and bail handle are reminiscent of the 18th century, but the design of the saucepan and kettle place it firmly in the 19th.
